The Cabin Escape Just Outside Nashville I Didn’t Know I Needed

Some trips are about the city. This one was about getting as far from it as possible without leaving the state.

The stay

Postcard Cabins at Dale Hollow Lake is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Outdoor Collection, which surprised me, honestly, because it doesn’t feel like a chain-hotel stay at all. It feels like the cabin your friend with good taste would build, if that friend also had a Marriott budget. Each cabin is private and tucked into the trees, no shared walls, no lobby small talk, just quiet and a fire pit if you want one.

Why this one’s different

The best part isn’t even Dale Hollow specifically, it’s that Postcard Cabins has locations like this across the U.S., all built on the same idea: private, design-forward cabins in genuinely beautiful settings, backed by a hospitality brand that knows what it’s doing. So if this particular spot isn’t near you, the concept travels.

Where to eat and drink nearby

This is lake country, not a downtown strip, so the food and drink scene is more local-spot than nightlife. Worth the short drive into Celina:

  • Dale Hollow 1 Stop BBQ: slow-cooked BBQ pork and chicken, a Celina staple since 2003
  • Quarry Restaurant & Bar: full food and bar menu, good option if you want both in one stop
  • Shankey on the Water at Mitchell Creek: waterfront dining right on the lake, worth it for the view alone
  • Ricky Bobby’s Road House: casual, low-key bar atmosphere if you want a drink without the drive back into town

Worth knowing before you book

  • Location: 2493 Moss Arcot Road, Celina, TN, about two hours from Nashville
  • The cabins: around 40 private cabins, each with a kitchenette and patio
  • Pets: up to two allowed, with a $50 pet fee per stay
  • Best for: a weekend reset, a couples trip, or anyone who wants “cabin in the woods” without giving up good design
  • Booking: part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Outdoor Collection, so you can earn or use Bonvoy points

If “peaceful” and “aesthetic” don’t usually go together for you, this is the stay that proves they can.
